How I became someone who builds data systems, told as the route it actually took.
Abdullah Semih Turhan
I study Computer Science at the University of Colorado Boulder and build two systems: AST, on how events propagate through an economy, and Market System, a platform for collecting and studying market information.
Istanbul
At Kozmos Software Anatolian High School I learned C#, C++, SQL and MVC. The work I remember most connected desktop apps, websites and APIs to one shared database. That was the first time I saw a system rather than a program.
Famagusta
At Eastern Mediterranean University I studied Computer Engineering and moved towards data science and machine learning, mostly time series and forecasting, often on data I collected myself.
Boulder
In Boulder I finished the English Pathway at CU Boulder and started the BS in Computer Science. AST and Market System are what I am building here.
What I am working towards
The best education I can get in artificial intelligence and data science, and the time outside class to use it. Building the projects I first imagined at Kozmos, when I did not yet have the means to make them. Technology that people can use matters more to me than money: an AI system that helps analyse medicines and find treatments is the kind of work I mean. And teaching, by writing down what I learn so that others can go further with it.
